How authentication works on Libas Collective: who checks the piece, what they look at, and what you receive.
Authentication on Request
Authentication on Libas Collective is a service the buyer adds at checkout. When it is added, the piece is routed to our Dubai centre before delivery instead of shipping from the seller directly, and it does not go on to the buyer until the in-house team has cleared it.
The team first checks the piece against the listing — condition, inclusions, the seller's description — then against the brand: materials and finish, hardware and engravings, stitching, logos and fonts, heat stamps, date codes and serial numbers, and for watches the movement and reference numbers. Most pieces are cleared within one to two business days of arriving.
The buyer receives the result as a report, downloadable from the order summary under View Report in the app and on the website. If a piece is confirmed counterfeit the order is cancelled and refunded in full — the one case in which a sale is not final.
The second opinion: LegitGrails
Where a piece warrants it — high-value bags, watches, and brands whose counterfeits are sophisticated — the in-house verdict is backed by LegitGrails, an independent authentication service that combines image analysis with its own human authenticators. Their finding is included in the buyer's report. It is a second opinion on top of our own check, not a replacement for it; if the two disagree, the piece does not ship until the question is settled.

What the authentication report covers
When a buyer adds authentication at checkout (AED 110 per piece on standard listings), the piece is routed to our Dubai centre before delivery. The in-house team compares it against the listing first — condition, inclusions, what the seller described — then works through the brand's tells: leather grain and finish, hardware weight and engraving, stitch count and alignment, heat stamps, fonts, date codes and serial formats, lining and interior construction, and for watches the movement, case-back and reference numbers.
Where the piece warrants it — high-value bags, watches, pieces from brands with sophisticated counterfeits — the piece is also submitted to LegitGrails, an independent third-party authentication service, for a second verdict. Most items are cleared within one to two business days of arriving. The result is written up as a report the buyer can download from the order summary under View Report, in the app and on the website.
If a piece is confirmed counterfeit, the order is cancelled and the buyer refunded in full; it is the one case in which a sale is not final. Luxclusif pieces are authenticated at source before they are listed, so the checkout add-on is not offered on them. Serial-number and date-code guides for 23 brands are published on the site for buyers who want to check a piece themselves.
