Celine Date Code Checker
Celine stamps a date code, not a serial: one letter, two letters, four digits — like S-CU-3196. The letters identify the factory; the four digits interlace the same way Louis Vuitton's do, but into a week and a year: digits one and three give the week of the year, digits two and four the year. S-CU-3196 is the 39th week of 2016.

View AllHow to read it
Read the digits interlaced: positions one and three are the week (01–53); positions two and four are the year. It is week-of-year, not month — a common misreading that shifts dates by months.
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| First letter + two letters (S-CU) | Factory identifiers |
| Digits 1 & 3 | Week of the year (01–53) |
| Digits 2 & 4 | Year |
Where to find it on the item
On an embossed leather tab inside the bag — often in the rear pocket — or debossed directly into the lining. Vintage Celine predates the system; older genuine pieces may carry no code.

Celine serial number questions
Is the Celine code a serial number?
No — it's a date code shared by every bag from the same factory and week. Celine doesn't publish per-item serials.
Week or month — which does Celine encode?
Week. Digits one and three give the week of the year (01–53). Reading them as a month shifts the date by months and breaks on values above 12.
Does a correct code prove the bag is genuine?
No — counterfeiters copy the format. Judge the leather, stitching, hardware and stamping; the code only rules out crude fakes.
My vintage Celine has no code — is that bad?
No. The code system is modern; genuine vintage Celine routinely carries none. Date those pieces by construction and hardware instead.
What do the letters mean?
They identify the factory. Celine doesn't publish the registry, so they verify the format rather than name a place.
Where should the code be on a Luggage or Belt bag?
Inside, on an embossed tab — commonly in the rear slip pocket — or pressed into the lining seam. Position varies by year.
A week above 53 decoded — what's wrong?
Nothing decodes above 53: the checker rejects it. Usually the digits were typed in the wrong order or a different marking was read.
Can the code tell me the bag's value?
It dates the piece; value follows model, condition and demand. The live Celine listings below show current UAE asking prices.
