Is there a Coach serial number lookup or database?

Creed, style number or registration number — which one do you have?
Three different numbers get called a Coach serial number, and mixing them up is the most common reason a code will not decode. The creed number is the dated one: a month letter, year digit or digits, a plant letter, a hyphen, then the style. It is the only one this checker can date. The style number is the trailing part after the hyphen — 9870 in K8P-9870 — and it identifies the model, not the date; the same style ran for years. A registration number is the pre-1994 form: six to eight digits with no letters and no date key at all.
So a code that returns nothing is usually a style number entered on its own, or a pre-1994 registration number that never encoded a date. Neither is a sign of a fake. If two bags share a style number, that is expected — it means the same model, not a duplicated serial.
Coach creed, real vs fake: what the patch catches
The content of a creed catches less than its craftsmanship. Counterfeiters copy plausible codes freely, so a well-formed number proves very little on its own. What they get wrong is the leather: genuine creeds are debossed into the patch cleanly, with even depth, straight baselines and consistent letter spacing. Shallow or uneven stamping, text that drifts off-line, a patch glued rather than stitched down, or stitching that does not match the bag's interior are each worth more than the number above them.
Where the code does earn its keep is contradiction. A creed dating to 1997 on a style Coach did not introduce until the 2010s is a mismatch, and so is a dated creed on a bag whose hardware and lining belong to the pre-1994 era.
